Programmes

At Links School Sport Partnership we have a variety of programmes we deliver to help attract as many young people into sport as possible. With these programmes we deliver to a variety of school children and young people, and also develop the next generation of coaches. This helps us to ensure that as many children as possible receive high quality P.E and sport training. Developing coaches and volunteers helps to ensure that we can deliver many coaching sessions and events to help children gain the most from sport.

We also offer CPD sessions for teachers to help ensure high quality P.E is delivered in schools. Please use the navigation bar at the top to see the current programmes we run, or alternatively use the links below to see what we do.

Change for Life

Change4Life

Here at Links School Sport Partnership, we strongly believe that Healthy, Happy and Active children learn better. Our vision is to see ‘More Young People, More Active, More Often’ and the strength of our work within PE and school sport helps us to achieve this.

The well publicised Change4Life campaign through the NHS has some great free resources that primary schools can access that have tips on how to increase the amount of physical activity young people do each day, particularly important on those non-PE days. Change4Life clubs aim to encourage less active children to do more physical activity and to engage in school. At the heart of it all, they aim to enable children to develop their health and wellness, happiness, social skills and successful achievements.

Our schools are running Change4Life clubs where the main aim is to target the ‘Less Active’ pupils, where it is seen as a physical activity intervention, whereby attitudes and behaviours towards physical activity may change over time.

Coaching Children

Sheffield Hallam University has an excellent relationship with Links SSP demonstrated through many excellent partnership projects. One of these includes the delivery of a University module titled ‘Physical Literacy in Context’ which involves 2nd year undergraduate BSc students studying Sport Coaching.

The module prepares students for working with children, specifically to coach Multi Skills and foundational movement skills with primary age children. The students are then deployed into Links SSP local primary schools to support curriculum and extra curriculum activity.

This programme is both beneficial for children in the schools, staff at the school, and also provides an incredibly valuable experience for the students.
