This programme is run in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University
and the LINKS School Sport Partnership. It was developed to provide additional
Multi Skills coaching for Key Stage One (KS1) children across our mainstream
and special needs schools as well as offering the first year Hallam Sports
Students a high quality training programme linked to real volunteer
opportunities. The Programme will be going into it’s forth year in the 2010/11
academic year.
The programme has provided over 1500 hours of fundamentals
coaching for KS1 children over the three years it has run and will provide
another 500 hours in the coming school year.
The students are all CRB checked, receive the Sports Coach
UK Safeguarding Children training, carry out a risk assessment seminar and
complete a comprehensive Fundamentals training package. They then go into
schools and complete a minimum of 6 hours of coaching completed over a half
term in school. At the end of the coaching the schools are invited to a Free
Festival of Sport at the EIS, which is organised, and run by the students. This
event is always great fun for Children, Staff and Students.
