MEND Sessions
Mend is broken down into 4 sections.
MIND
All the Mind sessions involve applying social learning theories and behavior modification techniques. All the information covered includes: Setting Goals and Rewards, this is usually done every fortnight where a exercise and nutrition target is set. Role Modelling ensuring parents are a positive role model for their children in terms of exercise and nutrition. Stimulis Control looking at hunger vs craving for example whether children are eating when and because they are hungary or whether it is just habit or routine to eat at certain times etc. Problem Solving games Positive Parenting picking up on any bullying issues, sleep patterns etc Self Esteem and Confidence
Exercise
Every session will consisit of 1hour pratical exercise. All the exercises are non competitve but challenging at the same time. The exercise part of the session will include: Land and Water Based exercises will be mainly done on land but there will be the opportunity to do some water exercises via Phillimore school Group Play working in small/large groups doing team activities to build confidence and promote friendships Graded Activities all the activities will start off quite basic and gradually get more difficult and challenging Dance, Voice and Drama to build up confidence and self esteem FUN!! the main emphasis of the programme.
Nutrition
The nutrition section of this course will look at changing eating behaviors and look at how to incorporate a healthy eating plan into every day life this will include sessions on: Foods: Looking at all the different food groups, portion sizes and emphasinsing it is NOT a diet and that NO foods are forbidden. Educating and Empowering families to change there lifestlye by changing what they eat and how much exercise they do.
